The Forestland Group, LLC today announced the acquisition of 95,000 acres of forestland in West Virginia from the MeadWestvaco Corporation for the Heartwood Forestland Fund IV.

The Forestland Group, LLC today announced the acquisition of 95,000 acres of forestland in West Virginia from the MeadWestvaco Corporation for the Heartwood Forestland Fund IV. The property is located in Wirt, Ritchie, Wood, Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Mason, Roane and Tyler Counties in West Virginia. The property includes approximately 30,000 acres of pine plantation and 65,000 acres of upland hardwood type. The sale fit into MeadWestvaco’s strategy of focusing resources and technology on the land base that will most effectively support company mills, and is part of the company’s previously announced plans to divest 950,000 non-strategic acres of its land holdings.
